Our King's Origins
Originally co-founded in February 2022, Applied Neuroscience Association (ANA) emerged as a professional membership start-up on a mission of spreading neuroscience for social good. ANA’s academic, scientific, and ethical foundation was deeply rooted in King’s College London, with its founders, inaugural members, advisors, and early contributors graduating from King's & King's world-leading Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN).
ANA was selected for the King’s Entrepreneurship Institute Accelerator 2022/2023 cohort, with the King’s Women Entrepreneurs Network a springboard for entry. Together, these communities played a pivotal role in supporting ANA from start-up to early growth phase. A year-long programme helped us position ANA's purpose of bridging the translation gap between lab discoveries and a growing societal demand for innovation in healthcare, education and the workplace.
In June 2024, The Applied Neuroscience Association relaunched under its sole remaining founder, supported by inaugural members and the ANA Advisory Board. Now entering its establishment phase, ANA, together with our members is pursuing a renewed mission: empowering ethically applied neuroscience for global impact — scaling the biggest Network in the world, connected through local Chapters and unified by the Community Platform.
In this new era, ANA is proud to maintain active links across the King’s ecosystem, including:
-
King’s College London IoPPN alumni
-
King’s IoPPN collaborations on applied neuroscience education and public engagement
-
King’s Entrepreneurship Institute – King’s20 Accelerator alumni
-
King’s Women Entrepreneurs Network – community members and co-hosted events
-
King’s School of Neuroscience – collaborators in symposia and outreach
-
King’s Health Partners – contributors to knowledge exchange and translational initiatives
-
King’s Health Sciences Doctoral Training Centre (HSDTC) – participants in research-led symposia
What began as a bold start-up, is establishing into a truly global Association — uniting a diverse, multidisciplinary, expanding Network from many institutions and organisations around the world, welcoming new members, advisors. partners, sponsors, and curious minds from across borders, disciplines, and sectors. Our foundation remains rooted in academic, entrepreneurial, professional, and ethical rigour, open to everyone, applying neuroscience in service to society.
